Exhibition “The physics that connect us: CERN and Brazil”

The traveling exhibition: “The Physics That Connects Us: CERN and Brazil” will be inaugurated at the opening of ICHEP 2026. As a result of GT8: the Scientific Dissemination Working Group of INCT (National Institute of Science and Technology) CERN-Brazil, the exhibition will address aspects related to the scientific work of research at CERN, as well as historical and social debates linked to the research carried out, highlighting the important Brazilian participation.

In addition to presenting the physical concepts of the experiments, the exhibition will discuss the history that led to the construction of the LHC, the historical aspect of Brazil's participation in collaborations, and present the experiments: ALICE, ATLAS, LHCb, and CMS. It will discuss the social impact of the development of this scientific area, which has diverse applications in our daily lives.

The exhibition also features interactive materials, allowing young people to engage with the content in a relaxed way, as well as delve deeper into topics of greater interest.

Masterclass Hands On Particle Physics

The events Masterclass – Hands-on Particle Physics are held worldwide, promoted by IPPOG (International Particle Physics Outreach Group) in collaboration with various institutions around the world. The main objective is to show the day-to-day work of high-energy physicists to high school students. To this end, students visit research institutions in the field and analyze real data provided by high-energy physics experiments. In addition, the events also foster the exchange of experiences among students, teachers, and researchers in a collaborative scientific environment.

During the ICHEP 2026, three Masterclass sessions will be held, each analyzing data from a different experiment. Participants will have direct contact with researchers from major particle physics collaborations through data analysis activities specific to each experiment. These activities will be coordinated by Brazilian researchers who are actively working in the research and development within their respective experiments.

Visit of High School Students to the Conference Venue

The high school students participating in the Masterclass events will visit the conference venue on July 31st and August 3rd. The participating students will have direct contact with the event's program, being immersed in a scientific environment with a large number of researchers from around the world, gathered at ICHEP 2026 to share their latest results and advances in High-Energy Physics. The goal is to motivate students to engage actively in an authentic scientific environment, in a way that may inspire them to pursue a career in a STEM field in the future.

Date: 31/07 e 03/08

Time: 8 AM to 12:00 PM

Location: IFRN: Av. Sen. Salgado Filho, 1559 - Tirol, Natal - RN, 59015-000

Target Audience: High school students from Natal and the surrounding region.

Science Slam

In this activity, researchers attending the conference will present their research to the general public through informal 5-10 minute presentations, focusing on clarity, entertainment, and storytelling. This friendly competition within the scientific community demonstrates that science can also be fun and accessible, connecting the scientific community with the general public. The presentations will be judged by the audience, along with a jury, who will select the best presentation.

Date: 1 de agosto

Location: (To be confirmed)

Science & Art

The activities aim to connect Art and Science in the context of Particle Physics, offering immersive experiences with artistic interpretations for participants and the general public.

Showing how these two languages, fundamental to human creativity, can complement each other in exploring and interpreting the Universe. They aim to inspire creativity, highlighting the role of both areas as transformative and innovative means for understanding reality and fostering critical thinking.

The activities result from the work of undergraduate students in the course lead by professor Ana Amélia Machado: “Science and Art,” at UNICAMP (State University of Campinas), with the goals to promote Scientific Culture among high school students and teachers, encouraging interest in and dialogue about science in an educational environment.

Performance: “The Dance of Particles”

A three-act dance performance that presents some of the constituents of matter; through choreography, sound design, and staging, the students express their interpretation of the physical properties of particles.
